STARband Cranial Remolding Orthosis (helmet)

A cranial remolding orthosis is a device used for the treatment of deformational plagiocephaly, brachycephaly and other skull malformations in infants.  The STARband cranial remolding orthosis is the only devices approved by the FDA.  We utilize a STARscanner digital acquisition system which skans the child's head in order to make the custom orthosis.  This process eliminates the need for a plaster cast of the child's head.

Many top manufacturers provide pediatric components which are designed for the special needs of children.  These components fulfill the needs of children to be well encorporated with their surrounding and optimally function.  There are components for crawling, sports and activities and to aid in playing and exploring their surroundings.  Our pediatric prosthetists are experiences with the specific challenges of providing a functional and long lasting prosthesis for a growing child.  We encourage the entire family to be involved in the decision-making and goal setting process.
